 Welcome to Shearwater-Sailing

The early adventures of Stu, Elizabeth Anne and the cats aboard

Shearwater II

Launching, Commissioning, Outfitting and Crossing

The early days of the Shearwater - preserved for our enjoyment!

We set off for Puerto Rico via Culebra. It was a delightful down wind sail. Shearwater loves her spinnaker with the birds flying high. We settled into the Puerto del Rey Marina near Fajardo. Provisioning in Puerto Rico was a delight. It is a lush, diverse country and we fell in love with it. One day we rented a car and took off for the rainforest. Along the way we stopped to see waterfalls and had lunch at a pleasant little park by a waterfall.

January flew by. Where? Who knows. But, we've been having fun. St John is lovely. There are so many bays and reefs to explore. There hasn't been a bad day for sailing and the new friends we've met are a lot of fun. Take a look at our photos on the January - February 2003 page.

Domino has been busy catching little silver fishes off of the back of the boat. Jez doesn't like to get her feet wet. So, she is glad Domino is willing to share her catch. Well, most of the time. They also work very hard on the nap thing! Poor little boat cats!

The holidays were grand. We were fortunate to have our Julie with us for Christmas. We also enjoyed the company of our friends Bill and Dabney Hart and Marianne and Steve Phillips. There are many pictures on the Christmas Holidays page. Just after the New year, We visited with friends Karen and Brian Beaver, Laura and Ollie Burt and Julie and Steven Cooper.

Shearwater has carried us 24,000 miles across mother ocean. If you would like to learn more about our adventures during the past two and a half years visit Our Voyages pages.

Santa brought Stu a digital camera with an underwater housing. Now, in addition to having more pictures with Elizabeth Anne in them, we can show you the spectacular underwater life we see. We created a page to show you what what lies beneath.

If you are visiting our site because you are a current or potential Voyage Yacht owner you simply must visit the Voyage Yacht Owners Group at MSN Groups. It is a free, unmoderated discussion group started by a few of us with common interest. We invite your comments, questions and hopefully the Group will prove to be a very valuable reference.
