May 2019: Starting the travels<\/span><\/h2>\n

After two “practice” mini-trips in Florida, we loaded up the travel trailer, filled up the car, picked up our TripTiks from AAA, and headed west.<\/p>\n

We departed Delray Beach in our new-to-us GMC Acadia and brand new Freedom Express travel trailer for a trip out west in several parts. Part 1 included Austin, Albuquerque, the Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, and Zion National Park. An amazing trip for us.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.17\u00a0 On our way<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

Our first stop was the Ponderosa RV camp, Kissimmee, FL (167 mi.), simply because it was halfway to Tallahassee, our first real stop. After all these years of living in Florida, we decided to visit the state capital, even though we were not generally pleased with the majority lawmakers. <\/span>The Ponderosa RV camp provided electricity, water, and all our necessities for the stopover.<\/p>\n

5.18\u00a0 To Tallahassee RV camp, FL (263 mi.)<\/span><\/h3>\n

A narrated tour of the city in a 6-person electric cart was the best part of Tallahassee. Our historian\/driver took us through the city to see lovely architecture. The historic Capital building was the best, known for its red-and-white striped awnings.<\/span><\/p>\n
