Lovely homes punctuated by over a dozen bridges that are high enough for our Ranger Tug to travel under with no difficulty or waiting for the bridge<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1040 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170205_reflections_at_Soverel_Marina-5-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>\u00a0to open. We enjoy the view as we go under, unimpeded.<\/p>\n<p>Lately, this has changed. On weekends,\u00a0President Trump is in residence at Mar A Lago, private club where anyone rich enough can rub e<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1044 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170205_ICW-to-Soverel_Marina-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170205_ICW-to-Soverel_Marina-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170205_ICW-to-Soverel_Marina-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170205_ICW-to-Soverel_Marina-2.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>lbows and share state secrets. During this period, several armed USCG patrol boats are stationed in the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway to protect the National Command Authority from attack by sea. That is us! When we travel this route, we are approached by the boat in the photograph (taken with permission) and escorted until we are out of range of Mr. Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Nice to be protected.<\/p>\n<p>Everything in Florida is attacked by salt. Especially the balcon<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1037 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170205_ICW-to-Soverel_Marina-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170205_ICW-to-Soverel_Marina-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170205_ICW-to-Soverel_Marina-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170205_ICW-to-Soverel_Marina.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>ies on the expensive condos facing the ocean. After several years, the small sum the builder saved by not using rust resistant reinforcing rods causes the concrete balconies to begin to collapse. Think of this the next time you step out of the door of your 12th floor condo.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, the condo operator has to remove the balconies, replace the defective metal, and reinstall the concrete. Hopefully they used treated concrete and rust resistant rods this time.<\/p>\n<p>While this is happening, I look at the tall buildings and consider what would happen if a prank kid removed a rod from the bottom balcony.<\/p>\n<p>Soverel Marina is located in North Palm Beach, just north of PGA<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1051 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170206_leaving_Soverel_Marina-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170206_leaving_Soverel_Marina-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170206_leaving_Soverel_Marina-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/shearwater-sailing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170206_leaving_Soverel_Marina.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/> Boulevard, It is about the right distance from home for a comfortable stop when going North after a mid-morning start.
