9/8 A day with Friends
In the pre-rally day we caught up with camping friends and visited. Jeff and Carol enjoyed the beach, Susan and Sharon visited the outdoor pool while Joan and Stu did their water aerobics exercises in the indoor pool.
As we gathered for a spontaneous pot luck supper, the group grew from about 8 to about 14 folks, but it seemed like dozens as we ate, talked, and ate some more. Delicious salad, watermelon, shrimp and rice, and made-by-Stu salmon and freshly baked whole wheat bread.
A lovely meal.
After dinner, Stu brought out Homer, his new drone. Homer followed his commands, until another Roamer took over command and ended up with Homer in his wife’s hair. Stu saved the day.

Memories of our trip include a visit to the beach, just a few steps from our site. The weather was a bit cold for our tastes in the water, but we enjoyed walking on the beach and watching all the non-Floridians swim.
Thursday night the group went to the Alabama Theatre to see an enjoyable variety show performed by the Iconic Performers.
Saturday, 9/13 the Beach
Saturday afternoon was a perfect golf ball roll day. Light overcast, warm but not hot, and a lovely beach with perfect sand to dig. Stu has played in the sand all his life, collecting his Father’s damaged golf balls and building sand castles to roll them on.
Joan captured Golf Ball Roll under construction and finished.
After a lovely few days of comradeship, our rally ended on two nice notes, Friday evening we celebrated Shabbat with the Myrtle Beach Temple Shalom at a congregational dinner and service. Saturday evening we ended with a nice pot luck supper and a Havdalah service led by the group President, Bob Lewis. Both are covered in detail on the new Shalom Roamers web site.
Many more photos of the Shalom Roamers Myrtle Beach Rally are on the Shalom Roamers web site.

We departed Myrtle Beach Sunday Morning toward home with an overnight stop at Thousand Trails: The Oaks at Points South campground in Yemassee, SC, near Beaufort. Nice campground, semi-isolated sites with lots of trees and very quiet.
9/15 – 1/17 A nice time in Hanna Park and Lunch in Crescent Beach
We enjoyed 2 days in a very secluded site in the nearly empty Hanna Park south of Jacksonville. Quiet, lots of bicycle paths, nice walk on the beach and most of the afternoon in the shade of a Gazebo enjoying our reading and the sound of the water.
We continued South after Hanna Park and stopped along A1A in Crescent Beach. There was a curved moon shaped road that left A1A and rejoined the same road in about 2 blocks. The short crescent shaped road had shoulders that touched the seawall overlooking the inlet.
9/17 – 9/18 The last day – driving home
We camped by the water in Sebastian Inlet State Park, just a relatively short distance from home. We have been there several times, quiet, relatively flat, and a beautiful view of the inlet.
Joan scouted the campsites for the best ones and came up with this list of sites for next time we are there: 2 (with smaller view of inlet but close to the dock), 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13.
We awoke early after our night at the Sebastian Inlet, walked down to the dock for photos of the early morning birds and fishermen, and then drove home.
