2023 – Sailing, RV-ing, Boating and Moving

We are thrilled with anticipation for the 2023 year. Winnie, our travel trailer, is ready and eager for the year’s adventures. Shearwater V has survived months of a modernization project and is ready for local boat travel with the hope of a longer voyage later in the season.  Finally, we are looking forward to a family voyage with Stu’s kids to the Bahamas on a chartered large sailboat.

The year started with several trips to our “summer home” at the Winter Haven Moose. This lovely spot is located on the chain of lakes and provides a never ending set of local boat trips, especially when the temperamental Tango Jet Boat, Two To, is happy and running. Our best trip of the year, so far, was a drive to a local lake where the Cyprus Gardens Ski Team put on an amazing, free, display of water sky and hang gliding.

We have explored only a small fraction of the Chain of Lakes in Two-To, our aging jet boat. The exploration included many fine meals along the shore – in the never ending search for perfect catfish.

In May, we Winnie carried us on a late Spring 2023 East Coast trip. Read all about our adventures in Washington, DC with Shirley’s family, Baltimore, Md. with Bob and his family, and Chincoteague,  Md with the ponies, dolphins, and birds by Clicking Here.

From July 7 to July 16, we took a family vacation in the Bahamas on the Sailing Catamaran, Happy Day, a 5 cabin floating condo that provided bedrooms for 10 people with room for two more uncomfortable bunks we did not use.

The trip was comfortable, except for terrible air connections. Everything on the boat worked as advertised and most meals were a delightful combination of Bahamanian food and drinks.
